According to the DSM-5, Generalized Anxiety Disorder is diagnosed when:
A person experiences excessive worry or fear for most days over at least 6 months
The worry feels difficult to control
3 or more symptoms are present - such as restlessness, fatigue, muscle tension, poor sleep, irritability, or trouble concentrating
The anxiety causes a significant impact on daily life, affecting work, relationships, or overall functioning
💡 Viewed as a problem to fix; treatment aims to reduce symptoms.

Anxiety is a protective signal, not a personal flaw.
Your body fires a safety alarm even when you’re safe, because of old, unresolved fear.
The work isn’t to silence symptoms; it’s to teach the body it’s safe again.
💜 Viewed as a message to understand; healing focuses on retraining safety, not fighting fear.

Racing thoughts • Overthinking • “What if…?” spirals

Irritability • Dread • Restlessness

Tight chest • Fatigue • Tense muscles

Avoidance • People-pleasing •
Over-control • Replaying conversations

What you’ll learn:
Mind vs. brain (why thoughts aren’t the whole story)
“What-if” loops & future/past focus that fuel activation
Why tight chest, racing heart, heat = nervous-system outputs

In this email series, we cover:
Why you suddenly feel anxious, even when nothing is "wrong"
Are you stuck with anxiety forever? Here’s the truth.
The real reason your brain won’t stop running worst-case scenarios
Is it anxiety, or is something actually wrong with your body?
Is anxiety a sign of trauma - even if I don’t remember anything bad happening?
Screens and anxiety - what no one is telling you
Why does my anxiety get worse at night?
How do I stop people-pleasing and worrying what others think?

Hi, I’m Ash and I created Thriving Anxiety Free because I know what it’s like to live in survival mode.
For over 20 years, anxiety shaped my health, my relationships, my parenting, and my entire sense of self. Despite having tried everything the traditional mental health system had to offer, nothing really shifted until I learned how to work with my nervous system, not against it.
With a PhD in neuroplasticity and decades of experience in neuroscience, therapy, and trauma healing, I’ve now supported thousands of people to rewire the patterns that were keeping them stuck.
This experience brings together everything that’s helped me and my clients feel calm, safe, and clear - not just in theory, but in their real, everyday lives.
If anxiety has been running the show, you don’t need to manage it anymore.
Let’s help your body feel safe enough to release it.
With love,
Dr Ash

You’ve read the books, tried the breathing apps, maybe even therapy…
But the anxiety still finds a way back.
It’s not you, it’s your brain’s threat system stuck on “high alert.”
Let’s reset it, together.
This isn’t about controlling symptoms or managing anxiety. It’s about resolving what’s underneath - the stored fear and old wiring your system has been running on.
Not at all. You can use this as a standalone experience or alongside therapy. Many people say it helps them go deeper into the work they’re already doing.
If nothing has worked, chances are you’ve never been taught what’s actually happening in your nervous system. This explains anxiety in a way that’s both scientific and deeply human and shows you what to do with it. This is all the stuff I WASN'T taught in 20 years of talk-therapy.
Yes. The tools here aren’t about specific labels. They help address the root cause of manifested anxiety, regardless of the nuances - unprocessed fear or overwhelm stored in the body - no matter how it shows up.
